Hello fellow parents and teachers! I have been really busy researching and creating new products so I haven’t blogged in a while. However, my son has been working on skip counting. I’m always on a mission to find ways to make any lesson hands-on and highly visual so I created this free teaching resource on skip counting in the form of a rainbow puzzle.
The bright colors help to differentiate strands of numbers and patterns.
The top row counts by ones, the next skip counts by twos, then threes, fives, tens, fifties and hundreds!
I cut the puzzle apart and put small magnet circles on the back side of each puzzle piece, although velcro would also work great if you prefer that. I like to use magnets so that I can use a cookie sheet for the activity. It works well because it doesn’t bend at all, and sometimes cardboard or tagboard that the velcro attaches to will bend. This would make a fabulous math center or TEACCH task box! This would also be a great small group activity or a quick activity to fill in some time for a substitute.
I had a little bit of help from my lovely daughter in cutting out all of these pieces. Laminate them and cut them out once and you have a great activity for years to come… or frequent review!
